Brake System Warning
A problem in the hydraulic brake system — or simply the parking brake left on. Check the parking brake first.
What it means
This light comes on with the parking brake engaged, low brake fluid, or a hydraulic fault. If it stays on after releasing the parking brake, treat it seriously: low fluid usually means a leak or very worn pads, and braking performance may be compromised.
Can you keep driving?
If the light goes out when you release the parking brake, you are fine. If it stays on, check the fluid level — if it is low or the pedal feels soft or sinks, do not drive; have the car towed.

Check the brake fluid reservoir against the MIN/MAX marks.

If fluid is low, look for wet spots near wheels or under the car — a leak means do not drive.
